FIFA 23 will be the first football game to include the Women’s Super League

FIFA 23 has officially been unveiled by EA Sports.

The highest-selling football video game on the planet will be released worldwide on Friday 30 September 2022.

The cover features PSG star Kylian Mbappe alongside Chelsea hero Samantha Kerr, making Kerr the first ever female footballer to feature on the front cover of FIFA.

This edition of the series will mark the final collaboration between EA Sports and FIFA, putting an end to a 30-year partnership which first started in 1993.

In July 2023, EA will begin a new era with the introduction of the EA Sports FC series.

This year’s instalment promises to be the most complete edition of the series to date with a greater emphasis on women’s football and further development in the gameplay to create the most authentic football gaming experience.

FIFA 23 features: cross-play

FIFA 23 will be the first year to introduce cross play, allowing players on different consoles to play against each other in a variety of different game modes.

The game modes where crossplay will feature are online friendlies, online seasons, FUT online friendlies, FUT Rivals, FUT champions, and FUT online draft.

This will allow players of the same generation to face each other, meaning Xbox One/PlayStation 4 players cannot face anyone on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Stadia or PC.

FIFA 23 has unveiled plans to include women’s club football teams for the first time in the series.

Since FIFA 16, female footballers have been included on FIFA, however it has only ever included a small selection of international teams.

At the launch of FIFA 23 it was confirmed that the FA Women’s Super League and the French Division 1 Féminine would both be added to the game.

With the increasing popularity of the women’s game and the further focus generated from the European Championships 2022, it is expected that it won’t be long before further updates are made to include more playable women’s leagues.

FIFA 23 producer, Matt Lafreniere has said: “We’re committed to building an equitable experience and aspire to help grow women’s football.”

FIFA 23 features: HyperMotion 2 Technology

HyperMotion is set to receive a huge update in the latest instalment of FIFA known as HyperMotion 2.

HyperMotion is designed to capture footage from a professional football game. The advanced 11v11 match capture helps with EA’s machine learning algorithm which is used to create a more realistic in-game experience.

The developments to hypermotion technology mean that the game will feature more than 6000 authentic animations.

New developments in the technology mean that we can expect to see improvements in shooting animations in FIFA 23 and more realism in the way that goalkeepers react to in-game scenarios.

FIFA 23 will also use a new mechanic for acceleration known as AcceleRATE. AcceleRATE provides a realistic layer of personality to control how different players reach their top speed in FIFA 23.

FIFA 23 features: FIFA World Cup

The FIFA World Cup is the pinnacle of international football and one of the most high profile sporting events in the world and FIFA 23 is planning to bring the experience to life like never before.

FIFA 23 will include both the Qatar 2022 World Cup and the women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 as post-launch content at no additional cost.

EA are currently keeping their cards close to their chest but further updates will be announced on the EA Sports website closer to the time.

FIFA 23 features: FIFA Ultimate Team

The most popular game mode in FIFA, Ultimate Team, will have a whole new, updated chemistry system which will provide more flexibility in the way players put together their teams.

Another new feature which has been added to Ultimate Team is a new game mode, FUT moments which will be a scenario based game mode.
