Here's when FIFA 22 is released on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, how gamers can pre-order and what features are included in the latest instalment of the popular football video game.

When is FIFA 22 coming out?

The FIFA franchise is one of EA's most popular video games with the release of the latest or next instalment always high on gamers' priority list.

The last three instalments have all been out in either the last week of September or first week of October to tie in with the start of the new football season.

The football season tends to start in August among the Premier League, Championship and other European big leagues such as La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, among others.

The previous instalment of the game - FIFA 21 - came out on 5 October 2020, with FIFA 20 released on 24 September 2019, and FIFA 19 available from 28 September 2018.

FIFA 22 release date on Xbox and PS5

EA Sports has confirmed that FIFA 22 will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC from 1 October 2021.

The release will be worldwide and by pre-ordering the FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition users will get the game four days early, meaning gamers could be playing from 27 September 2021.

Can I pre order FIFA 22?

Gamers can pre order copies of FIFA 22 now through the EA Sports website.

Not only does the FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition give gamers access to the latest instalment four days earlier, it also enables customers to benefit from a dual entitlement offer.

EA's dual entitlement lets customers upgrade copies of FIFA 22 from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S at no additional cost.

What are the new FIFA 22 features?

The FIFA 22 trailer promotes a seamless gameplay using new HyperMotion technology.

Specially designed suits captured the motions of 22 professional footballers playing at high-intensity for the first time.

It resulted in what EA have called "unprecedented volume of high-quality real-human movement data" to power both individuals and teams in FIFA 22.

“FIFA 22 offers millions of fans around the world a chance to engage with the sport they love in an unprecedented way,” said EA Sports FIFA general manager Nick Wlodyka.

“Each player experiences FIFA in their own way but on-pitch gameplay is the unifying constant, so we’re excited to offer deep innovation there.

"HyperMotion elevates that even further on next-gen consoles and Stadia and completely changes the feel of the game.”

Pre launch leaks explained
