Toblerone dark chocolate discontinued: Mondelez confirm "difficult decision"
Fans of dark chocolate Toblerone are snapping up the snack - as it will soon disappear from supermarket shelves. Sweet maker Mondelez has confirmed it is discontinuing production of their treat.
The company said it had made the "difficult decision" and that shoppers will no longer be able to get their hands on 360g bars of the dark chocolate version of the bar. While we understand that this may be disappointing for some consumers, we continue to invest in Toblerone."

Some fans have already reported struggling to find dark chocolate Toblerone in stores, with some even asking the maker on social media where the treat had gone - and highlighting any stores selling off their stock.

One person wrote: "Does anyone know selling mini dark toblerone I can get a mixed bag but only like the dark ones?" Another wrote: "Really hard to find these now. Loved them."
People who have managed to get their hands on the snack are flagging sales online, at outlets including Amazon, where people are selling multi-packs for up to £25.
Milk and white chocolate versions of the bar - as well as other flavours - are still available at supermarkets and in duty-free stores at airports and ports, a traditional selling place for Toblerone.

Hide AdThe Tobler chocolate factory was founded in 1899 by Emil Baumann and Theodor Tobler, and in 1908, Theodor’s cousin Emil Baumann created the unique recipe we know and love today, consisting of milk chocolate with white nougat, almonds, and honey. Theodor came up with the distinctive triangular shape and packaging and the new bar was given its iconic name - a combination of Tobler's name and the Italian word a type of nougat, ‘torrone’.
The dark chocolate version of Toblerone didn’t come about until 1969. The white chocolate version followed, launching in 1973.
