Fans of Britney Spears have been left confused as to whether the pop star is actually pregnant or not, following a somewhat cryptic post on Instagram about being “food pregnant”.
The news comes months after Spears was released from her 13-year long conservatorship which, she said, prevented her from removing her IUD implant birth control device, despite expressing her desire to have children with her fiance Sam Asghari.

She told the court: “I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship I am not able to get married or have a baby.”
This is what you need to know.
Is she pregnant?
On Monday (11 April), Spears took to Instagram to announce that she is pregnant.
In a lengthy caption, the 40-year-old wrote: “I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back … I thought “Geez … what happened to my stomach ???” My husband said “No you’re food pregnant silly !!!”
“So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby … 4 days later I got a little more food pregnant. It’s growing !!! If 2 are in there … I might just lose it.

“I obviously won’t be going out as much due to the paps getting their money shot of me like they unfortunately already have … it’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression … I have to say it is absolutely horrible.
“Women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her … but now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret …

“This time I will be doing yoga every day !!! Spreading lots of joy and love !!!”
A few hours later, she followed up with another post on Instagram which said: “May God’s grace find you always!!!”

Following Spears’ post on Instagram, Asghari also took to the platform to make his own statement.
He posted an image of a painting of a lion, lioness and lion cub, and in the caption wrote: “Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect.
“Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to and I don’t take lightly.
“It is the most important job I will ever do.”
Who is Sam Asghari?
Sam Asghari is Spears’ fiance. The pair got engaged in September last year, days after the singer’s father filed a request to have the conservatorship brought to an end.

While the singer referred to Asghari as her husband in her Instagram post, it has not been confirmed if the couple have officially tied the knot.
Asghari, 28, was born in Tehran, Iran, and moved to the US when he was 12. In 2013, he developed an interest in fitness and decided to pursue a career in the field.
He ended up doing some modelling and has since booked roles in music videos - many will likely recognise him from the Work From Home music video by Fifth Harmony.

As part of Asghari’s career in performing, in 2016 he was cast in the music video for Slumber Party by Britney Spears.

Speaking about his relationship with Spears, He said that between takes on set, he tried to break the ice with pop star.
He said: “She said, “Hi, I’m Britney,” and I said, “I’m sorry. What’s your name again?”
“I tried to be funny. I don’t think anybody got it.”
However his initial failed attempt at humour wasn’t enough to put Spears off Asghari, and the two ended up talking more between breaks on set.
Talking to ET Online, Asghari said: “At the music video, we connected. We talked. We talked at the music video about what [we] like to eat - sushi - and then [exchanged] text messages and the next thing you know, [we’re] just like a normal couple.”

Spears announced their relationship on Instagram on New Year’s Day 2017 with a photo of her and Asghari.
Speaking about her relationship, Spears said in a radio interview: “I found his number in my bag. I was like, “He is really cute, this guy is really cute”... So I called him and ever since then, he is just a really fun, funny person.”
In 2018, Spears shared on Instagram that they had now been together for over a year, writing: “I’ve been with this man for over a year... everyday he inspires me to be a better person and that makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world!! @samasghari.”
How many children does she have?
This pregnancy will mark the third (and possibly fourth if she’s having the twins she hinted at) child for Spears.

She had two children in her second marriage to dancer Kevin Federline, who she married in 2004. Earlier that year, she had briefly been married to her childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander, however their marriage was annulled 55 hours later.
Spears and Federline welcomed their first child into the world in 2005, when she was 23-years-old. They named their first son Sean Preston.

In 2006, the pair then had their second son, named Jayden James. According to his birth certificate, he was born at 1:11am on 12 September.
Spears filed for divorce from Federline in November 2006, citing “irreconcilable differences”. Their divorce was finalised in July 2007.

Initially, in a temporary agreement, Spears was granted custody of her sons, with Federline allowed three days of visitation.
However, following her increasingly erratic behaviour in 2007 which led to her conservatorship, Spears lost custody of her kids.

In 2019, she was granted 30% custody and, in 2020, Federline’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told E! Online: “Kevin in no way wants to prevent the boys from having any unreasonable custodial constant with their mum.
“The boys love their mother but the existing [custody] arrangement, as reflected in the terms of the most recently entered order, are reflecting what Kevin believes is in the children’s best interest.”
