Western Esplanade Hove: Man's body found 'washed up' on UK beach by passerby near 'Millionaires' Row'

The passerby spotted the man’s body off the shore of Western Esplanade, Hove. Police were called shortly before 4pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 3 September).
Dozens of emergency services were at the scene, including coastguard crews and paramedics. Officers were standing at the edge of the beach telling people they could not go on to it.

Hide AdThe incident happened near Millionaires' Row, which is home to celebrities including DJ Fatboy Slim, real name Norman Cook. Paul McCartney, Adele and David Walliams have also called the street home, according to the historical blog Hove in the Past.
The average price for a property on this road is just under £2,500,000, with some easily a million more than that. It is one of the most expensive streets to live on in Brighton and Hove.
A spokesman for Sussex Police confirmed a man's body had been found. The force spokesman added: "Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the full circumstances of the incident."
A bystander told The Argus: “It was just unbelievable to hear that a body washed up. I heard about it before going into the gym. It’s really sad.”
