M&S just launched a £38 cardigan with a detachable faux fur collar

M&S has added a new cardigan to its latest collection and it comes with a detail that instantly gives a classic knit a more dressed-up feel.

The M&S Faux Fur Collar Button Front Cardigan has just arrived at M&S and costs £38. The grey marl design combines a slim-fit cardigan with a detachable faux fur collar, giving you the option of changing the look depending on how you want to wear it.

The faux fur collar cardigan has a collared neckline, button fastening and ribbed trims, with a self-tie detail completing the design. M&S says the smooth fabric is cut in a slim fit, with the ribbed finish helping to accentuate the shape.

It is the detachable collar that makes this new arrival particularly interesting. Remove it for a more straightforward everyday cardigan, or keep it attached when you want to give jeans and knitwear a slightly more polished finish.

The timing also feels right, with M&S currently putting plenty of focus on textured knitwear and softer layers as its autumn collection arrives. Its latest trend guide specifically highlights elevated cardigans, with faux-fur trims featuring among the details being used to give knitwear a more refined look.

The M&S cardigan is also part of a wider new-season cardigan edit at M&S, where the retailer is currently flagging several pieces as Just Arrived, including textured cropped styles and wool-blend designs.

The grey marl colour makes it easy to imagine wearing the faux fur collar knit with dark denim and boots, while the more decorative collar could also work over a dress or skirt for a smarter outfit.

At £38, it sits in the middle of M&S's current cardigan offering, but the two-in-one styling gives it something a little different from a standard button-front knit. M&S currently lists the cardigan in sizes XS to XL.
