Johnny Thompson who has been described as King Charles’ ‘hot equerry’ is engaged, who is his fiancée?

For all of you who thought  King Charles’s right-hand man Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson was ‘hot’ you may be dismayed to discover he is officially ‘off the market.’ In The Times Births, Marriages and Death column today, it has been announced that Johnny Thompson is engaged to be married.

The announcement read: “The engagement is announced between Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs Alan Thompson of Morpeth, Northumberland, and Olivia Rose, daughter of Mr and Mrs Simon Lewis OBE of Primrose Hill, London.”

In February 2024, the Daily Mail reported that “Not short on Royal connections herself, Ms Lewis met Thompson – who separated from his wife nearly two years ago – while working for Charles and Camilla.

“Her father is Simon Lewis, once the Queen's communications supremo and the man credited with 'rescuing' her reputation in the period following the death of Princess Diana. Switching from the Palace to No 10, he became former Prime Minister Gordon Brown's spin doctor.”

Johnny Thompson was previously married to marketing manager Caroline and the couple shared a son together. Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson has been a key figure in royal events over the years. When the late Queen’s casket was brought in for the four days of lying in state at Westminster Hall, Johnny Thompson was seen conversing with the Duke of Kent. 

He also stood behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the Platinum Jubilee celebration National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral and was with the Royal family on Christmas Day last year. 

However, it was when King Charles ascended to the throne in September 2022 that a video of Johnny Thompson went viral on TikTok. Wearing a navy blue suit and carrying several bags, Johnny Thompson is seen making his way through the gates of Buckingham Palace after the death of the late Queen Elizabeth.

After viewing the video, many fans left comments about his appearance and one described him as “James Bond level dashing.”
