Gerwyn Price said: "Three years I’ve played here and three times I’ve won – it’s disappointing that we didn’t play here last year but obviously (we didn’t) with everything that was going on. I’m thrilled to play here again.

"Early on in this final, I thought that I put him under a lot of pressure, obviously Peter wasn’t playing very well, and I just carried on with my own game.

"I did let him back in but (overall) I was clinical today."

Price’s victory puts him level with Michael Van Gerwen on three titles at the event with only Phil Taylor, with six, having won more.

Grand Slam of Darts prize money

Gerwyn Price received £125,000 in prize money for winning a third Grand Slam of Darts.

The prize pot takes his earnings from the three Grand Slam of Darts wins to £360,000 since 2018.

Price earned £250,000 from 2020’s World Grand Prix, World Series of Darts and World Cup of Darts wins.

But his biggest single financial darts windfall came earlier in 2021 when he claimed the PDC World Championship.

This earned the then number three seed a cool half a million pounds prior to this weekend’s Grand Slam of Darts hat trick.
