The US Open 2021 is reaching its climax ahead of the finals weekend.

There is huge British interest in the women's draw of the tennis tournament with Emma Raducanu into the semi final at Flushing Meadows.

It is the 18-year-old's first big semi final in only her second Grand Slam, having excelled to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon earlier in the summer.

Raducanu is the first player to have made it through qualifying and reach the last 4 of the US Open - and has done it without dropping a set.

Needless to say there's plenty of home interest in Raducanu's US Open 2021 semi final against 17th seed Maria Sakkari of Greece.

While another teenager, Canadian Leylah Fernandez, is also making a name for herself in the other half of the women's draw.

The 19-year-old will play second seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in the first semi final on the Arthur Ashe Stadium main court.

When are the US Open 2021 semi finals?

The US Open 2021 semi finals in the women's draw will take place in the early hours of Friday 10 September for UK viewers.

Both semi finals are scheduled to take place in the evening session on Day 11 of the US Open, which starts from 7pm local time in New York.

Yet, due to the time difference, it means the action won't start until five hours later in the UK, taking it into Friday morning.

What time are the US Open 2021 semi finals?

For UK viewers hoping to watch Emma Raducanu in semi final action at the US Open, the time difference will mean a late night or early morning.

Raducanu has been playing in the early sessions through the US Open rounds so far, meaning her matches have featured at around 5-7pm UK time.

But the semi finals will start in the evening session, with Leylah Fernandez vs Aryna Sabalenka scheduled to start at midnight (UK time) on Thursday 9 September.

Following the conclusion of Fernandez vs Sabalenka, Emma Raducanu and Maria Sakkari will take to the Arthur Ashe court, at around 1.15am (UK time) on Friday 10 September.

US Open 2021 schedule

Following the women’s singles semi finals, the US Open 2021 final is scheduled to take place in the evening session on Saturday 11 September in New York.

This could mean it being played in the early hours of Sunday 12 September for UK fans.
