A woman posted on the Facebook group called Extreme Day Trips that she took a day trip to Gdansk for £18 and visited a “big” Christmas market with “lots of stalls”. The Facebook group has a host of people posting about their day trips abroad and the cheap flights they have purchased from UK airports.
The woman said it was her first solo EDT (Extreme Day Trip) with the Wizz Air flights costing her exactly £8.99 each way. She said: “Flight left on time 8:30am, and had a whole row to myself. Passport control took about 15 mins in Gdansk.

“Only took two minutes to get through security, plane again was on time, once landed no queues at security straight though then dart was there just about to leave and straight to my car. It took exactly three hours from leaving Poland to walking through my door…(only live about 20mins drive)”. The post has gained over 500 likes. One user wrote: “Exciting! Heading there next week! Thanks for the review”.
Another user commented that they “love this city, got so many beautiful places, cheap to stay, will do it in spring overnight”. The woman replied that she too loved the city and will “definitely return when it is warmer”.
Gdansk in Poland is only two hours from the UK and offers the perfect festive trip with one of Europe's best 'underrated' Christmas markets. Throughout the city festive celebrations involve fairy tale illuminations, delicacies such as pierogis (Polish dumplings), and a theatre stage for different events throughout the festive season.

Time in the factory involves creating Christmas gifts, whereas in the Festive Chamber visitors are welcomed to explore a unique Christmas room full of beautifully decorated Christmas trees, a grand fireplace, and Santa's throne. After, head to the Artistic Café for some freshly brewed coffee and tea and a range of cosy books to nestle into, provided by the Provincial and Municipal Public Library.
