However, now shared that he’d like to take on a new role - and has revealed he’d like to share his own dating show. Thompson is familiar with dating shows; he’s a regular panellist on Love Island spin-off show Aftersun and, until recently, he co-hosted the Love Island podcast called The Morning After.

He’ll also be able to speak to his long-term girlfriend Zara McDermott for advice as she’s had experience as both a contestant and a presenter when it comes to love match shows. She first came to public attention when she took part in Love Island series 4 in 2018, and in 2022 she hosted Love in the Flesh, which brought couples who had met online together in person for the first time.

In an interview with Digital Spy, 31-year-old Thompson said he’s now keen to follow in the footsteps of his other half and would like to try out his matchmaking skills himself himself by fronting a brand-new reality series.

He said: "If anyone is stupid enough to hire me as a host of something, I’d love to do a hosting role," Thompson enthused. "I’d love to host a dating show or something like that with Pete [Wicks] – that would be amazing." Wicks in Thompson’s best friend and former Made in Chelsea co-star.

He went on: "I want to be my own production company. I want to start making my own shows and doing all that kind of stuff."

Explaining why he no longer wants to work as a reality TV star himself, Thompson said: "I’ve done so many [reality shows] myself and have been a contributor so many times. I think you get to a certain age where everyone gets younger and you get older. I feel like I’ve done everything I wanted to do."
