While the love lives of celebrities is a topic that has fascinated the public since the dawn of time, actor Leonardo DiCaprio (Don’t Look Up, Titanic) invokes a special kind of attention due to his habit of seemingly only dating women under the age of 25 - a subject that took over the internet following his recent split from his girlfriend of four years, Camila Morrone, months after she turned, you guessed it, 25.

However, it seems that the Hollywood star is looking to take a break from dating women exclusively under 25, as reports have suggested that he had his eye on 27 year old supermodel Gigi Hadid.

Who is Gigi Hadid?

Hadid is an American model and TV personality, best known as the daughter of former model Yolanda Hadid.

She was born Jelena Noura Hadid on 23 April 1995 in Los Angeles, and is the older sister to siblings Bella and Anwar - both of whom are models as well.

After graduating from Malibu High School in 2013, she made the move to New York City to study at The New School. She was initially studying criminal psychology before she put her degree on hold in order to pursue modelling.

Talking to her followers in an Instagram Q&A last year, Hadid was asked what she would have liked to have done for work if she hadn’t become a model, to which she said: “I studied Criminal Psychology in college, and although I’m so intrigued by that field of work, I think that if I would have had a career in that, I would’ve still ended up working in something creative instead.”

Her modelling career actually began when she was just two years old, when she modelled for Baby Guess, but she stopped in order to focus on her education.

Hadid signed to IMG Models in 2013 and made her New York Fashion Week debut in February the following year.

Over the course of her career, Hadid has appeared in a number of high fashion campaigns, modelled for brands such as Guess, Tom Ford, Versace, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger and Moschino, and has appeared on magazine covers like Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair and Cosmopolitan.

Did she date Zayn Malik?

In late 2015, Hadid began her on and off again relationship with former One Direction member Zayn Malik which would last until 2021.

Malik told ES magazine in 2016 that they met at a Victoria’s Secret party, and that he had asked her out after he recognised her “from her picture”.

He said: “She’s a very intelligent woman. She knows how to carry herself. She’s quite classy and that.

“She’s not, like, arrogant in any way, she’s confident. She carries it well. She’s cool.”

Hadid appeared in the music video for Malik’s song Pillowtalk, his debut single as a solo artist after leaving One Direction, and in 2016, the pair launched their first couple photoshoot together for a Vogue spread.

While the two broke up and got back together on a number of occasions, their relationship came to an end following an alleged incident between Malik and Hadid’s mother, Yolanda, in October 2021.

Yolanda accused Malik of hitting her, with court documents stating that he had “grabbed her and shoved her into a dresser causing mental anguish and physical pain” and had said “lewd, lascivious, threatening or obscene words”.

While Malik denied hitting Yolanda, he filed a “no contest” plea to four counts of harassment and, as a result, was sentenced to 90 days probation for each count, for a total of 360 days.

At the time, Malik issued a statement on Twitter which said: “As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private place for my daughter to grow up in.

“A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.

“In an effort to protect that space for her, I agreed not to contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”

He was also instructed to complete an anger management class and a domestic violence programme.

Does she have any children?

Whilst Hadid was still in a relationship with Malik, she welcomed her only child into the world in September 2020, a baby girl named Khai.

She confirmed her pregnancy during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier that year in April amid much speculation, when she said: “Obviously, we wish we could have announced it on our own terms.

“We’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support.”

After Hadid gave birth, Malik posted an announcement on Twitter which said: “Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful.

“To try to put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding.

“Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine & thankful for the life we will have together x”

Hadid has been highly private about the life of her daughter, asking paparazzi not to photograph her and sharing pictures that don’t show her face.

She opened up about her daughter in a recent interview with NBC News’ Sunday Today with Willie Geist, in which she said that Khai was about to hit her “terrible twos”.

Hadid added: “I think she’s a genius. But I think that’s what everyone says about their kid. It’s so much fun.

“The more she talks, and understands, and remembers, it just gets more and more fun. And she’s a blessing.”

According to reports, actor Leonardo DiCaprio is “definitely pursuing” supermodel Gigi Hadid, despite having only just split from his girlfriend of four years Camila Morrone.

One source told People that the two were “getting to know each other”, however they weren’t dating just yet, with another adding: “They’ve been seen hanging out with groups of people. It’s only been a few weeks since the split. Since then, he’s been hanging out with friends and family.”

This potential relationship marks a break in the actor’s dating tradition of getting together with women under the age of 25, as Hadid is 27 years old.
